Big Bears will be hard to beat

Thursday, April 28, 2016

The Townsville & Districts Mendi Blackhawks are back on the road this weekend to face a dangerous Burleigh Bears outfit who have only suffered two losses so far this season.

Averaging just over 5 tries per match so far in 2016 and sitting in fourth place on the ladder on for and against, but only one win behind the Mendi Blackhawks, the Bears will come into the match buoyed by a thrilling Anzac Day win over PNG Hunters.

The game will take place on Sunday afternoon at Pizzey Park giving the Bears home ground advantage. It will feature on WIN Television as the Match of the Round with coverage beginning at 1:40pm.

The Mendi Blackhawks will be looking to improve their first half energy as well as cleaning up their error rate following the Round 8 match against the Northern Pride.

“I would envisage this game being our toughest challenge to date.” Coach Woolf said.

“Burleigh are a big and aggressive forward pack and we will need to match them in that department. I know our blokes are looking forward to the challenge.
