Blackhawks not expecting a picnic against the Bears

Wednesday, May 6, 2015

This Saturday 9th May 2015 the Townsville & Districts Mendi Blackhawks return to their homebase of Jack Manski Oval after a week off for Representative Round to take on the Burleigh Bears. The Bears led by Charters Towers junior Darren Griffiths have a four and four record so far in season 2015. Strongly backed by feeder club the Gold Coast Titans the Bears have a list of high quality players including Kevin Gordon, David Hala and Brad Tighe.

Coach Kristain Woolf recognises the danger of the Titans contracted players, “Not only do the Bears have a big aggressive forward pack but they also boast a lot of class and NRL experience in their edges in Gordon and Tighe. They are a strong side and will pose a similar threat to that of the Easts Tigers. We expect a tough game.”

“They are also coming off a disappointing loss to PNG Hunters in Round 8 where they actually completed at around 90%. Those numbers should be enough to win a game but they were pipped at the post by the Hunters and I am certain they will be frustrated by that loss, which will make them dangerous.”
