Charters Towers Miners Development Clinic

Monday, January 18, 2016

The Charters Towers Miners Senior Rugby League together with Rybenleigh conducted a Coaching Development Clinic at Bill Lewis Oval over the weekend of the 16th and 17th January 2016. The aim of the clinic was to develop and nurture young players and coaches.

Townsville & Districts Mendi Blackhawks players Noel Underwood and Conor Carey travelled to Charters Towers on Saturday to assist with running training sessions and drills. The well attended clinic attracted a great deal of interest and was a great success for rugby league in Charters Towers.

The first day involved five training sessions, a kicking and catching competition, a swim and round one of the oztag competetion. Day two involved four more training sessions, round two of the oztag competition and finished up with the oztag Grand Final.

The development clinic will hopefuly become an annual event for the Charters Towers Miners as weekends such as these are essential for nurturing young rugby league talent and developing coaches in the region. The Townsville & Districts Mendi Blackhawks hope to see some of the young Charters Towers players in black and green jerseys in the future!
