Development Squad Trial Wrap

The Mendi Blackhawks Development squad finished their pre-season successfully with two wins over the Northern Pride and Townsville & Districts local league side the Burdekin Roosters. The two trials were the final chance for Intrust Super Cup players to push for sports in the Round 1 team.

In the first match at Jack Manksi Oval the Development Squad were scrappy at times against their Northern Pride equivalents but came out on top 22-10.

The Development Squad travelled to Ayr for their final trial on Friday night. The Blackhawks took on a determined Burdekin Roosters at their home ground of Rugby Park in a bid to take Intrust Super Cup to our regional areas. The final score was 32-12.

In a committed effort both Lenny Magey and Conor Carey backed up from the Thursday evening Intrust Super Cup squad trial aginst the Cowboys to take to the field in the Burdekin on Friday evening.

The trials saw strong performances from Intrust Super Cup contracted players Lona Kaifoto, Dave Munro, Carey and Magey who finished with three tries.

Local league players who stood out included Lloyd McIver, Brenn Fosterm Jack Boniface and BJ Munns, whilst Development Squad Member Kurt Perry put in a very strong performance for the Burdekin Roosters.
