The Mendi Blackhawks remain in 5th position on the ladder after defeating the Norths Devils 12-6 in the Intrust Super Cup Indigenous Round 17 at Jack Manski Oval on Sunday.

The day started with a wonderful Welcome To Country by Jeanette Wyles, who is a traditional owner from the Bindal people.

The highlights reel will be kept short with only 3 tries being scored and all in the first 20 minutes of the game.

The first try to Carlin Anderson, in only the second minute, saw him reaching over the line after an orchestrated set play.

Norths Devils levelled the scores soon after with a try to Jarvan White in 7th minute.

But the Jonathan Reuben and Carlin Anderson combination struck again with an 80 metre try to Anderson after passing through both sets of hands.

The second half saw some great defence from both sides, but with no points scored by either team.

The Indigenous Jerseys that were worn by the team are being auctioned online now with all profits going to development of Rugby League in North West Queensland.

The Mendi Blackhawks will have the bye next week, followed by the Northern Pride at home on July 15.
